Configure website as SSL


SSL stands for Secure socket Layer .SSL Provides a encrypted mode of secured connection between the server and browser .Follow the steps to configure a normal website as SSL website . This document prepared based on Windows XP/ 2000 IIS.

This document prepared based on Windows XP/ 2000 IIS.Secured websites usually starts with " https:\\ " . Several symmetric or asymmetric encryption methods are used for the providing certificates for authorized users. Let see how we can configure a normal website as Secured website .

1.Login as Administrator to the server
2.Go to Internet services manager [Control Panel / Administrative Tools]
3.Select the Properties of the website
4.Select Directory Security Tab
5.Select Edit and then Require secure channel
6.Select 128-bit encryption
7.Select Ignore client certificates / Accept Client Certificate [Which will allow the users to enter without providing their own certificates or not]
8. Select Edit option of Enable client certificate mapping and map users [used for configuring certificates for users in active directory ]
