In reality, changing your habits it's not always easy. Makes changes takes time, so don't expect to transform yourself in an instant. You don't have to be perfect, so just try to recover quickly from your mistakes and learn from them. If you really want to be more efficient about managing your time, you can use some proven methods that will make it easier for you.

To get a productive start to your day, always begin with the activity that is most important to complete. Then you won't have them hanging over your head all day long. Starting off with the larger tasks also makes it certain that you will in fact get them done. It is better to spend more time than you planned on something urgent than to do it halfheartedly because something that was supposed to be tiny ended up eating up your whole day. To get good at time management, you must learn to set priorities and do things in order of importance. Make a list of activities in order of their importance, and work on it top to bottom. Taking a large task and separate it into smaller ones is a basic but very effective time management strategy. This way you can work on that big project a little bit at a time without it feeling overwhelming or stressful. When you break down the task, you can also have flexibility about which part you want to work on at what time, or who you want to assign it to. Procrastination is a common problem when it comes to facing large, intimidating projects. Most people procrastinate because they are avoiding a project that seems too big to tackle. When the large project has been divided into smaller parts, it no longer seems unmanageable, and you can start to work on it.

Make sure to plan in breaks and times for relaxation. Nobody can go full throttle all day long without it really wearing them down. Your mind and body both need some down time every day to just unwind. More importantly, it has been proven that the brain performs better right after returning from a break period. So make sure you make time for at least a few breaks during your day and then make sure you take them. Those breaks are your time to just unwind, your brain and body will thank you for them. They are important to your emotional health too. It is important that you stick to your guns on this one and don't let anyone tell you anything different.

Time management skills are something that anybody can develop. If you keep the above guidelines in mind, you will find that you can quickly develop abilities in this area.

Time management is mainly a matter of paying attention to what you're doing and planning ahead. If you are persistent about improving in this area, you soon will.
