Microsoft Unveils Communicator Mobile for Nokia

Now, don't let that name mislead you. Microsoft has not launched a successor to Nokia's E90 Communicator. We're on about something else here.

Remember the partnership announcement between Nokia and Microsoft last year? Back then, it was thought that Microsoft would port its Office Suite, the mobile version of it, to Nokia's Symbian smartphones.

Anyway, almost a year down the lane, Microsoft Communicator Mobile for Nokia is what has emerged as a result of the collaboration. The application, according to Nokia, "connects directly with a company's communications systems to streamline mobile collaboration". Communicator Mobile will allow users "to see their colleagues' availability, and click to communicate with them using the best method, from IM to email, text to phone call". It is more of a "corporate application" and will be made available initially for Nokia E72 and Nokia E52. More phones will be added to the "supported devices" list - including the brand new E5.

if you were waiting for the much awaited Office Suite for your Symbian phone, the wait continues :-)
