.NET Certification Details

I have seen so many questions regarding the certifications. so I thought i can put my experience and tips so that it may be useful for others.

I have done MCAD for .NET 1.1. It consist of 3 exams to be cleared. Actually if we clear first exam we will get MCP.U can write the exams in prometric centers. (Search for prometric center in ur city). Exam cost would arround 2000 to 3000 rs. there may be some discunts which u can find in microsoft sites.

If u are new for certification then it would be better if u got for .NET 2.0 certification because .NET 1.1 certifications are going to expire in 2009 march. those who have done .NET 1.1 certification(MCAD) please upgade it to 2.0 by writing one EXAM(upgrade from MCAD to MCPD) for MCPD. But to be frank i tried it and i was not able to clear its little tought.

If u are going to write certification u can go for MCTS which need 2 Exams to be completed. As in .NET 1.1 if u r completing one exam then u will not get MCP, so u need to complete the 2 exams for MCTS. Then u can write MCPD.

U have both exams for 3.5 and for 2.0 also. Whever is comfortable u can write. But there is no direct exam for upgrading from 1.1 to 3.5, u need to upgrade to 2.0 then to 3.5.
