How can i Strongly build my Career with 1.6 yr Experience but 6,000 salary

Hi Friends and Brothers,

I am working a very small Company in Chennai.
I have Experience of 1.6 year in Asp.Net. but still my salary is 6,000 only.
I am not a genious in Asp.Net but i know how to Finish my tasks by Myself or Refer.
I am Intermediator level in Communication.
also i am learning Asp.Net Mvc and now i am a Beginner in Asp.net Mvc.

So in my situation what are the things i need to do for strongly Build my career with my this much of Experience and my small Salary.

I have lots of confusion about my future and career so suggest me friends and brothers to how van i go correct route and Go ahead.

Hai Paul,
You have just started your career so you need to worry about it. But as you mentioned that you have lacking in the communication skills which needs to be improved as communication has important role in the interview process. Most of the companies checks for the communication skill first and if the communication is good they continue with the technical interview.
So it is crucial in the interview as well as try to learn the upcoming technologies as you can see now a days no companies is taking the people who are having asp.net experience. All the tings are moved to the latest technologies like MVC and then client side JavaScript frameworks like AngularJS, KnockoutJS an others. So try to learn those thing which will help in getting the good job in the future. Do not stick with the old things as they are outdated. Also keep more focus on OOPS and C# core concepts as they will be used throughout the career.

Hi Paul,

Since you have 1.6 years of experience guy my suggestion would be wait for one more year then try to search in outside, in the mean time you have to improve your skills with latest technology and try to improve your communication skills as well and for any level the basic concepts knowledge is very very important refer those concepts, I already shared few interview questions in one of my article.

In the mean time try to learn new technologies and try to help others in our forum by searching in Google or by your own words that will improve your confidence.

but be wait for one more year, with 1.6years of experience no body conduct interviews in outside, in the mean time try to increase your salary by discussing with your manager.

Hi Paul,

I am also from Chennai. I know situation over here. We have lots and lots of small companies here apart from Big MNCs. As every one suggested you need to strong in communication and technical side. But I would recommend you to take a practical experiment. I have tried this with one of my friend and it worked really well.

Apply for job in all the small companies you know and you also get from consultancy and go for the interview and try to understand what is the expectation. I am sure after couple of interviews you understand yourself and you will also understand which area you need the improvement. I always feel some pushes or incidents makes our life change. Sure you will get experience on this experiments. Hope near by in future if you settled well and inform us about your journey.

Hi Mani,

I'm not agree with you I'm too belongs to Chennai only, if you go with small companies they are giving hike based on current salary 30%, but his current salary is 6000 if he changed with 30% hike that won't be big difference it would be max of 8000, but when you go to big companies they won't do like that they were round off with minimum salary drawn with existing employees with same years of experience. I too face the similar problem when I was in 2years of experience I got offer in 3-4 small level companies but they were offered me with 30% hike that time my salary was 12000, it won't give that much difference, I tried until what I'm expecting finally I got good offer. If we compromise with 30% hike there is no need to change the company as per my point of view.

Yes I agree. He wont get big salary.
But he will get Motivation. I am not telling him to join another company once he got offer within next 1 year. But without knowing any outside expectation and reality he wont get a push to improve the communication or technical standards.
We can improve technical standards by reading, but communication only comes when we speak with peoples. Hope he wont get chance to speak with his colleague in present company in English, but when he go out of the comfort zone he understand his communication level and improve from there on.

Hi Paul,

that's up to you.. If you are Ok with that salary then you can continue, if you think that your experience and your work and your stamina is not worth to that then refuse it.

In my 1st company I'm too working with small package as a contract based, but at the same time permanent people got double of my CTC, I got too frustrated I explain the same-thing to my manager he is also understood the pain what I'm facing but he is not having rights to give permanent position but he promised me he try to give confirmation in a year, I'm not ready to wait until that time. So, I tried in out side everybody suggested me to go with 50% hike(max). my salary is 12,000 if it is 50% hike then my salary becomes 18,000/- PM but same years of experience people in out side they drawn double of mine then why should I compromise and continue with small package? If I go and join then I again had same frustrated because still in my new company they may give best package to my new colleagues, may be because of that reason again I'm unable to concentrate my work properly. Finally everybody working for money only, then why should I compromise myself. So, I decided in my mind my salary should be 200% (min 150%) hike then only I quite the job other wise won't...

Once in my mind I fixed like this after that I got job with 23,000/- and 25,000/- but I refused those offers, after that I got the offer in HCL with 35,000/- PM.

My motto is only one-thing if we are worth-able then definitely company give best offer until we have less than 7years of experience, after 7 years of experience I can't shift the company like this, I can't expect 300% hike for sure, this is possible in initial stage only.

My suggestion is try to adopt more concepts asap and as suggested by Manigandan try to attend interviews for experience, then you come to know what is what? once you understood the background you can easily get a new job there is no doubt.

FYI Market stands for .net people in outside

1-2 years : 4 LPA
2-3 years : 5 LPA
3-5 years : 5-7 LPA

I share my personal experience if you are in first stage of your career then you need to wait half or one year more in same company this is because, a large number of companies give preference more than 3+ years of experience
