    Sending mail from sql server

    I configured the database mail on Sql Server 2005 for sending email notifications, but getting this error.

    Exception Type: System.NullReferenceException
    Message: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

    I don't no this cause. But in your description it showing "object Reference not set to an instance to an object". This means if you are refering object there is no data in that..

    I think that's the reason its showing this error.
    Can you please check it the assigned object having data or not.

    You need to ensure that database mail option is on.
    Secondly, make sure that the port 25 is open.

    This seems to be a known issue and there is a KB article in Microsoft support site. Please refer the article and make necessary modification/installation.
