SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) is a report generation platform from Microsoft. It allows software developers to create sophisticated text and graphical reports against data stored in SQL Server and a variety of other systems including XML.

Reporting services offer tools for administrators to manage scheduling and configure access rights for the reports.

History of SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)

SSRS was first released by Microsoft in 2004 as an add-on for SQL Server 2000. An enhanced version of SSRS was released with SQL Server 2005.

The latest release of SSRS is part of SQL Server 2008.
