Link Exchange programs
This chapter explains what is link exchange programs and how to make use of them
Webmasters know the importance of incoming links from other web sites and so they came up with the link exchange programs. A link exchange program is nothing but offering links from your own site in return of a link from other site.
If you like to offer links to other sites and get return links to your site, there are several options:
1. Join link exchange programs
Search for Link exchange programs in Google. Go to other sites who offer this program and submit your URL. Also, add a link to their site from your site. They will verify the link in your site and publish the link to your site.
There are several factors to consider here. Make sure those sites are related to the content of your site. A non related link is not bad, but they may not be as useful as a related site link.
Make sure they link to your site using the proper anchor text. This will add more value to your keyword ranking.
Make sure they are linking to your site using simple HTML hyperlink. Search engines cannot follow the Javascript window.open links, button click links etc. The links must be plain html hyper links. Otherwise the links have no value.
2. Offer link exchange program from your site.
Provide a page where other web masters can submit link exchang einformation. Your link exchange submissions page must capture the following information:
1. URL of the other site
2. Anchor text for the other site (Title)
3. Brief description of other site, if you like to publish a brief description.
4. URL of the page in their site where they have a link to your site
You can verify, approve or reject their submission. Once approved, the link to their site must appear from your site as suggested by them.
In your URL submission page, provide the HTML to link to your site. Provide your keyword anchor text and URL of your site so that they will use appropriate anchor text to link to your page.
3. Join web rings
Web rings are sites where you join a group of sites and link to one or two sites in the group. All sites in the group are required to link to one or two other sites in the group. This way, you will get links from various sites.
To find and join web rings, search for join web rings in Google.
