Difference between Custom Control and User Control
Hi All

User control

* Reusability
* We can nott add to toolbox
* We can drag and drop from solution explorer to aspx page
* You can register user control to .Aspx page by Register tag
* A separate copy of the control is required in each application
* Good for static layout
* Easier to create
* Not complied into DLL
* Here page (user page) can be converted as control then
We can use as control in aspx

Custom controls

* Reusability of control (or extend functionalities of existing control)
* We can add toolbox
* Just drag and drop from toolbox
* You can register user control to .Aspx page by Register tag
* A single copy of the control is required in each application
* Good for dynamics layout
* Hard to create
* Compiled in to dll

What is ViewState
ASP.NET view state is a great feature and an essential tool for web development of today. It maintains the state of a page as it travels back and forth. There is no more need to worry about restoring values of page controls between postbacks.

There are some common misconceptions about ViewState. Let me discuss these points here for the benefit of the readers. ViewState does not hold the controls, rather it holds the values of the form controls and their corresponding ID's that would otherwise be lost due to a post back because they do not post with the form. ViewState is not used to hold session data or to transmit data between pages. ViewState does not recreate the dynamically created controls of a page. It does not restore the values to the controls after a post back operation. Taken aback? Yes, it is true. Even when the ViewState for a control is disabled, still the value would be retained after a post back of the page occurs, for input controls like TextBox or DropDownList. So then, what is ViewState? ViewState represents the state of a page when it was last processed on the web server. It holds the values of a control that has been dynamically changed

What is a GridView?
GridView control is a successor to the ASP.NET 1.X DataGrid control. It provides more flexibility in displaying and working with data from your database in comparison with any other controls. The GridView control enables you to connect to a datasource and display data is tabular format, however you have bunch of options to customize the look and feel

The GridView control is the official successor to the DataGrid control of yesteryears. It is no longer listed in the toolbox, even though it is supported by ASP.NET 2.0. All new projects would automatically use the GridView control. Though both these controls have a similar look and feel they are implemented differently as already explained in the earlier section of this tutorial. However, to reiterate some of the features of the GridView control let us list them:

* The GridView control is associated with the DataSource control through its DataSourceID property.
* In ASP.NET 2.0 there are several DataSource controls that are designed to work with different data sources.
* Enabling Editing and Deleting records in the GridView Control is as simple as setting the properties “AutoGenerateDeleteButton” and “AutoGenerateEditButton” as "True"
* GridView totally supports 6 field types, they are:

1. BoundField,

2. CheckBoxField,

3. ButtonField,

4. CommandField,

5. HyperlinkField,

6. ImageField and

7. TemplateField

What is Session Object
Web is Stateless, which means a new instance of the web page class is re-created each time the page is posted to the server. As we all know HTTP is a stateless protocol, it can't hold the client information on page. If user inserts some information, and move to the next page, that data will be lost and user would not able to retrieve the information. So what we need? we need to store information. Session provides that facility to store information on server memory. It can support any type of object to store along with our custom object. For every client Session data store separately, means session data is stored as per client basis

Advantages :

* It helps to maintain user states and data to all over the application.
* It can easily be implemented and we can store any kind of object.
* Stores every client data separately.
* Session is secure and transparent from user.

Disadvantages :

* Performance overhead in case of large volume of user, because of session data stored in server memory.
* Overhead involved in serializing and De-Serializing session Data. because In case of StateServer and SQLServer session mode we need to serialize the object before store.

What is View?
What is VIEW

A view is an "Virtual Table". It is not like a simple table, this is an virtual table which contains columns and data from different table ( may be one or more tables) . View does not contain any data directly, it is a set of query that are applied to one or more tables that is stored within the database as object. After creating a view from some Table, it just used as a reference of those table and when executed shows only those data which are already mention in query during the creation of View

Syntax:
CREATE VIEW myView
As
SELECT ID, Name FROM EmpTable

Result:
select * from SampleView
