AJAX is the buzzword now (refer http://www.dotnetspider.com/buzz/BuzzWord-280-Ajax.aspx). However, there are so much of diversified libraries in JavaScript that confuse us.

Prototype JS is a comprehensive JavaScript library that serves the following objectives:

1) Simpler AJAX Framework
2) Cool Web Effects
3) Flexible and Cool DOM Manipulation

And more, it is opensource.
