Windows Aero is the name of the new graphical user interface and style used in the new Windows operating system called "Windows Vista".

AERO is an acronym for Authentic, Energetic, Reflective and Open.

Windows Vista provides two distinct user interface experiences:

1. Basic - a basic experience for entry-level systems,
2. Aero - a more visually dynamic experience called Windows Aero.

Aero claims to offer a very friendly, dynamic, cleaner, powerful, efficient and more aesthetically pleasing user interface. It also includes new transparencies and eye candy feature.

Aero requires a PC with a compatible graphics adapter and running a Premium or Business edition of Windows Vista. Computers running "Windows Vista Home Basic" edition or those without the hardware needed to run Windows Aero will use the basic user interface.
