Reduce XAP Size

Posted Date:     Category: Web Development

This tip deals with how to reduce the XAP package size for silverlight applications

1.) Select Release in properties before moving the xap to the production and build.
2.) rename the .xap file to .zip. Extract the zip and then re-zip it. It generally decreases the size quite a bit [really :-), a XAP package is nothing but a zip file with the extension changed to XAP]
3.) Use vector graphics instead of images. Reduces size.
4.) Load the assets on demand instead of packaging them in the xap.
