I received this error when I'm working in the SQL server 2000.

Error Message :

Login failed for user 'username'. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 18452)

Cause of this Error:

SQL SERVER 2000 has been configured to work in
Windows Authentication

But you are trying to logon using the SQL Server login. It does not allow you to logon.

Solution

Change the Authentication mode of SQL SERVER 2000 to Mixed Mode by right click on the Server and select the Properties Menu. Go To Security Tab, select the Authentication as SQL server and Windows (Mixed mode).

After changing the Authentication mode from SQL server to Mixed mode, user can connect to sql server using both the logins (SQL SERVER login and Widows login)
