Without Using DataAdapter Fill the DataTable or DataSet using DataReader :

There is facility in .Net Framework that is using DataReader we can fill the data in Datatable and Dataset without using DataAdapter

In this following Example simply I load the data in datagridview using datatable:

Sample Code:

SqlConnection sqlcon = new SqlConnection(“Server=localhost;Database=Miruthula;Integrated Security=SSPI”); sqlcon.Open();

SqlCommand sqlcomm = new SqlCommand(“select * from Riya”, sqlcon);
SqlDataReader sqlread = sqlcomm.ExecuteReader();
DataTable dt = new DataTable();
dt.Load(sqlread);
dataGridView1.DataSource = dt;

Note:

If already data is there in Datatable or Dataset Load() method merge the new data with old data without any loss of data.

Happy coding
