Creating Cookies using VB .NET

The following code snippet shows how to create, read, delete the cookies and also create dictionary cookies using VB .net.

Cookies are small pieces of information stored in the client computer. They are limited to 4K in size.

Creating Cookies


Dim cookie As HttpCookie = New HttpCookie("UID")
cookie.Value = "myid"
cookie.Expires = #9/20/2008#
Response.Cookies.Add(cookie)
cookie = New HttpCookie("PASS")
cookie.Value = "mypass"
cookie.Expires = #9/20/2008#
Response.Cookies.Add(cookie)


Reading cookies


Dim cookieCols As New HttpCookieCollection
cookieCols = Request.Cookies
Dim str As String
For Each str In cookieCols
ListBox1.Items.Add("Cookie: " + str)
ListBox1.Items.Add("Value:" & _
Request.Cookies(str).Value)
Next



Deleting cookies


Dim cookieCols As New HttpCookieCollection
cookieCols = Request.Cookies
Dim str As String
Request.Cookies.Remove("PASS")
Request.Cookies.Remove("UID")



Creating a dictionary cookie


Dim cookDict As HttpCookie = New HttpCookie("dict")
cookDict.Values("fname") = "first name"
cookDict.Values("lname") = "last name"
cookDict.Values("Address") = "address"
Response.Cookies.Add(cookDict)
