In .NET it's easy to show System Tray Notify icon.You just need to add Notifyicon control to your form let's say nfiSystem and simply set it's icon property to appropriate icon.
e.g below code will set the system tray icon to same as that of Form icon
Me.nfiSystem.Icon = Me.Icon
Me.nfiSystem.Visible = True
