Fetching Data From SQL Linked server

Many time one need to fetched the data from SQL linked server,Normally most of the site shows how to linked the SQL DB server but very few shows how to fetch the data out of it,so hopefully this will help if anyone looking for this.

Let's assume you have linked server SQL DB server "MyServer" and you want to fetch the data from Table "MyTable" of Database "MyDB",so your SQL query will look like


SELECT * FROM MyServer.MyDB.dbo.MyTable

In case you want to fetch data from any Instance of MyServer than you can use


SELECT * FROM [MyServer\InstanceName].MyDB.dbo.MyTable
