Creating a Dropdownlist in a Cell

Method 1:
*~*~*~*~*~
Create a dropdown list in a cell has the following steps
1. Select the cell in which the Dropdown list has to appear.
2. Choose the item Data -> Validation in the Tool Bar. It displays Data Validation popup.
In the Popup
Under the Allow choose the options as 'LIST'.
Under the Source Box give the list with comma seperated delimiter.
Click the OK button Dropdown List will be available in the cell.

Method 2:

Create a dropdown list in a cell has the following steps
1. Create the List in a Separate sheet.
2. Select all the Values i.e, the range of values from the starting to End
3. In the Name Box give a suitable Name and Press Enter Key (Eg: MobileBrands). This Process we called as the "Naming a Region".
4. select the cell in which the Dropdown list has to appear.
5. Choose the item Data -> Validation in the Tool Bar. It displays Data Validation popup
In the Popup
Under the Allow choose the options as LIST.
Under the Source Box give the Named Region.
Click the OK button Dropdown List will be available in the cell.


Creating a Dependent List

1. Create the List in a Separate sheet. As shown in the screen shot
2. Select all the Values i.e, the range of values from the starting to End
3. In the Name Box give a suitable Name and Press Enter Key (Eg: MobileBrands). This is Parent Table. Create same type of list for the Child table as well.
4. For the Second Level give the code Named region as the Name on the List.Hence the Corresponding value would be accessed.
5. Select the cell in which the Dropdown list has to appear.
6. Choose the item Data -> Validation in the Tool Bar. It displays Data Validation popup
In the Popup
Under the Allow choose the options as LIST.
Under the Source Box give the Named Region.
Click the OK button Dropdown List will be available in the cell.

7. In the Next Cell Choose the item Data -> Validation
in the Tool Bar. It displays a Data Validation popup
In the Popup
Under the Allow choose the options as LIST.
Under the Source Box give the formula as =INDIRECT(A2).
Click the OK button Dropdown List will be available in the cell.
8. Choose a particular item in First Colum i.e Brand and According in Next Cell the Values are Populated.
