SELECT * FROM TAB_EMPLOYEE
WHERE EMPNAME LIKE 'K%'

this query will return the records where empname will start with Letter K.


SELECT * FROM TAB_EMPLOYEE
WHERE EMPNAME LIKE '%K'

this query will return the records where empname will end with Letter K.


SELECT * FROM Persons
WHERE FirstName LIKE '%KA%'

this query will return the records where empname that contains the pattern KA.
