Savepoing of Transaction object in ADO.Net helps to commit or rollback a portion of transaction instead of Rollingback entire transaction.

Code Example:

Sqlcommand Comm = new SqlCommand();
SqlConnection Conn = new SqlConnection();
Conn.open();

SqlTransaction Trans = Conn.BeginTransaction();

try
{
command.CommandText = "Update...";
command.ExecuteNonQuery();

// Create a Savepoint
Trans.Save("FirstUpdate");

command.CommandText = "Insert...";
command.ExecuteNonQuery();
//Savepoint for Insert
Trans.Save("FirstInsert");

// To Rollback only FirstUpdate
Trans.Rollback("FirstUpdate");

Trans.Commit();
}
Catch
{
Trans.Rollback();
}
finally
Conn.Close;
