This is a new company come up in INDIA which is into digital cinema, this technology is very astonishing, some details and news:

Digital Cinema encompasses the production, delivery and projection of full-length motion pictures, trailors, advertisements and other audio / visual programs to theatres using digital technology. In Digital Cinema a film delivered to theatres through physical media such as hard disks or through other electronic transmission methods such as satellite.

UFO has launched an MPEG-4 technology based Digital Cinema System which provides greater flexibility, efficiency and cost savings over any other Digital Cinema solution available in the Indian market.

The UFO system also supports encoding and playback of 6 channel (5.1 Surround Sound) high-fidelity audio content, which is the current industry format for surround sound audio used by Hollywood and Indian moviemakers. It uses the latest MPEG-4 Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) technology to provide better aural experience than ever possible earlier by using the legacy Dolby Digital or DTS technologies.
The reduced file sizes of the digital movies due to MPEG-4 technology on the UFO's system allows reliable delivery of the digital movie over the UFO's hybrid multi-media delivery mechanism in the shortest time possible, thereby reducing the cost of delivery.
The theater-server in the UFO system can store more number of digital movies than ever possible, thereby allowing the flexibility of choice to the theater-owners to play different movies at different times or days on their screens, just like multiplexes, to substantially increase their revenue.
For day-to-day operations, the UFO theater-server allows segregated use of the system to the theater-managers and operators to do what they do best, i.e. schedule and playback movies. A simplified interface allows the theater-manager to assign operators, and implement a two-week advance schedule for playback of the downloaded digital movies by these operators.
The two-week advance schedule in the theater-server allows for allocation of a different movie for each show of each day of each week. The theater-manager also transacts with the billing server at the UFO NOC by just providing a valid transaction-id for the payment made earlier to UFO, to acquire credits required for playback of individual shows .
Before assigning a schedule to the downloaded digital movie, the theater-manager can also verify the content by conducting a preview show of that movie. The preview show is a full-fledged exhibition; except for an additional overlay of semi-transparent fingerprint information covering the complete screen which though allowing the content to be verified renders it useless for all-purposes of exhibition or copying. And, the operator is left with only the simple task of operating the playback of the pre-scheduled shows.
The UFO theater-server also monitors system health and displays critical information in a simplified form on the system's screen. All actions by the system and users, including systems engineers, theater-managers and operators, are logged by the theater-server and transferred to the UFO NOC for regular audits.
Thus, UFO has leveraged the inherent advantages of its system to truly deliver a flexible, efficient, versatile and cost-effective tailor-made Digital Cinema system to the Indian market.

Hi,

I have heard about this long ago. It is really a revolutionary technology in the field of cinema and theatre. Imagine a new movie is released in the DVD format and distributed to all cinema halls in the country.

It is a big industry too. All old movies need to be copied into DVDs format and Cinema halls do not require reel-spinning projectors, instead a computer with a digital projector of different zooming power.

I am waiting for such a revolutionary change in our country too.
