VS2005 problem: Visual Basic compiler is unable to recover from the following error

System Error &H8013141e&

Latest versions of Visual Studio 2005 has a compiler problem and Microsoft has published this as a bug. The "help is on the way" but we all need some workaround until Microsoft announce the patch.

Visual Studio Error

If you are using the Edit an dContinue feature in Visual Studio 2005, your IDE may often crash with the following error:

"Visula Baisc compiler is unable to recover from the following error: System
Error &H8013141e& Save your work and restart Visual Studio."

It may ask you to send the error information to Microsoft. Since Microsoft has already accepted this as a bug, there is no reason wasting your time to sent it to Microsoft. But the real problem is, it is hard to come out of that screen. It will prompt you several times to send or do nto send. I usually end up killing the VS.NET process.

Work around

Follow these steps in Visual Studio:
- Go to the menu Tools > Options
- Expand the tree node Debugging > Edit & Continue
- Un check the option "Enable Edit and Continue"

You have to live without the Edit and Continue feature until Microsoft announce the patch.
