Datalist

In this article i like to explain how can a beginner work with datalist. Many beginners cannot come to a conclusion whether

to use datagrid or some other data control for binding data and displaying it. i always prefer datalist for maximum

databinding scenarios. let me explain you how can we work with item templates and images using datalist.I will make a webpage and some data with hyperlink to another webpage in source code. here i will also explain how to work with query string which is very important for a typical beginner. I know a screen shot is better than 1000 words of explaination so i like to explain complete process using screen shots.I will update article according to feedback recieved.

Here I took a a sample website exclusively for you and named it as datalist.Default.aspx is a default page with website. You can see default page, a database in app_data folder and 2 images 1.jpg and 2.jpg in solution explorer.

Here i am taking a data list from set of data controls that is dragging and dropping.

From datalist tasks i am selecting a new d atasource.

I created a sample msaccess database for you so i am selecting access datasource here. you can see that in app_data folder in solution explorer. It has test table inside it.

Select Table using wizard next and next.
