The following query describes the customized sorting order
USE PUBS
SELECT *
FROM AUTHORS
ORDER BY (CASE STATE WHEN 'CA' THEN 0 ELSE 1 END),
AU_FNAME
In the above query, first it will display the authors whose state is CA and sort them based on AU_FNAME, then other state records will be sorted based AU_FNAME. So all CA records will come first. We can change the Case conditions depending on our requirement.
