13 Years of Microsoft Certifications---Part1

Introduction

Many a times I have been asked repeatedly about the new generation of exams, which led me to write an article about those exams….

Flash news is that Based on new Frame Work 2.0 MS has introduced the new Certification Exams as MCTS, MCPD, MSIP and MCA apart from the Existing ones
With the New Generation of Certifications job roles are separated from technical skills
It has been found in MS Survey that among those who are certified
70% of the staff More Productive than Regular
21% Equivalent
4% Less Productive
5% Don’t know

Why do we go/need for Certification?

• To achieve standards
• In order to compete enough
• To prove Unique
• To technically grow
• To identify qualified people in specific job

What does it?

Targeted and Flexible
Rigorous and Credible
Relevant and Simple

The thing is that Microsoft has launched a "new generation of certifications" consisting of two distinct series of credentials for .NET Framework developers:
They are
Technology Series (MCTS) prefixed with "TS:"
Professional Series (MCPD, MCITP) prefixed with "PRO:"

Abbreviated as

Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS)
Microsoft Certified Professional Developer (MCPD)
Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP)
Microsoft Certified Architect (MCA)

Note:

MCPD, MCITP are Specific to Job Role
MCTS specific to Technology (SqlServer/VS2005/Biztalk 2006)
“Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP)” is for Database Developers" and "Business Intelligence Developers" Previous MCDBA s can go to it for up gradation
MCTS is a prerequisite for MCPD/MCITP In other words “TS:” is a prerequisite (Mandatory) for “PRO:” exams

Summary

The Detail Explanation of all these exams would be coming in my next article
