PROJECT SUMMARY & POSITION OVERVIEW:
He/she would be responsible for leading the technology team at Bangalore for specific product areas, architecting and re-engineering the products based on organizational and product specific architectural goals as well as driving the use of best practices in design and development with the teams that they work with,
The initial assignment would be a 6 month re-engineering effort, wherein this person would work as part of a team of Architects and Subject Matter Experts (SME), to understand the existing requirements, architecture and implementation and document the same (UML). The team would also be responsible for proposing alternate solutions to re-architect the product and manage any prototypes that need to be built.
At the end of the assignment the resource would move to a product architect role, where, in addition to owning and driving the architecture based on the organizational standards, he/she would have to evangelize the engineering best practices within the team.
ESSENTIAL DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:
He/she would be responsible for
a.. Drives technical design and implementation. Proactively raise issues if specification will lead to quality, system performance, or architectural issues in product.
b.. Responsible for /Assists in the architectural planning and software design, ensuring coding standards and practices are met in regards to coding and documentation, as well as, providing insight and direction into testing and implementation.
c.. Provides demonstrated expertise in selected area of the technology/application/system.
d.. Participates in technical design reviews, functional specification reviews, and contribute to development project estimates, scheduling, test plans, and code reviews.
e.. Collaborates with Business Analysts and Product Management to ensure understanding of business requirements.
f.. Leads or directs project(s) in area of expertise
g.. Demonstrates self-directed and proactive approach to tackling problems and leveraging resources.
Proactively mentors developers/architects within the product group.
QUALIFICATION & INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE:
. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent, extensive and related applications infrastructure experience is required. Advanced degree preferred.
. Work experience in a offshore/onsite development environment with a consulting firm strongly preferred.
Required Skills:
. 8+ years experience in software design and development primarily in C/C++ on Unix
. Technical leadership in a development project for atleast 2 years with independent architectural/design responsibilities in atleast one large multi-tier project
. Comfortable in hands-on role, designing and developing using Unix/C++ using OOAD concepts
. Expertise with the following technologies: Unix Internals, IPCS, Network Protocols, RDBMS, multi-threaded development
. Excellent communication skills
DESIRED Skills:
. Experience in a financial environment
. Experience in use of agile methodologies
. Use of UML based tools ( Rose, XDE etc )
. Experience in performance test analysis
