Job Description
SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT PROJECT LEADER
Directed By :
The Project Leader reports to the Manager of Development. On a project, the Project Leader usually works under a Project Manager, a Strategic Project/Program Manager or independently.
Supervises :
On a project, the Project Leader may supervise Senior Software Developer(s) and/or Software Developer(s).
Summary
The Project Leader is responsible for the technical delivery to the client. In his/her role, the Project Leader is responsible for the performance of his/her team.
Responsibilities Verify quality delivery of work products to the client, within the specific project constraints (budget, timeline, technology, etc.).
Meet with client (technical, operations, business and management personnel) to discuss needs, goals and constraints.
Participate in requirements meetings, review requirements documents and comment on their technical feasibility.
Plan the design and the construction phases of the project.
Prepare task lists and assign tasks to team members.
Mentor team members.
Supervise teamwork.
Conduct code review with team members.
Communicate progress and issues to superiors in timely fashion.
Deliver technical presentation to technical and non-technical client’s personnel.
Train clients personnel in new technologies.
Implement new technologies for clients.
Keep up with new technology developments.
Communicate team member performance to Manager of Development.
Perform technical work, when needed.
Level of Supervision The Project Leader normally works under minimal or no supervision. He or she is assigned a project for which they are fully responsible.
Creativity and Judgment The Project Leader heavily relies on their experience and their judgment to accomplish their goals.
High degree of creativity required.
Required Skills and Experience At least 10 years of experience in software development.
At least 5 years experience in technical leadership.
Ability to communicate with clients, superiors and subordinates, verbally and in writing.
Ability to produce technical documentation.
Ability to quickly learn new technologies.
Ability to deliver presentation to technical, business and management personnel.
Bachelor’s degree in business or science.
Work Environment and Physical Demand General office environment.
Some stress may occur at times.
Off-hours work may be needed to address client needs, business needs or to learn new technologies.
REQUIREMENTS

At least 3 years experience in technical leadership.
Ability to communicate with clients, superiors and subordinates, verbally and in writing.
Ability to produce technical documentation.
Ability to quickly learn new technologies.
