explain me in deep what is 3 tier architecture and how before dotnet any language was not having 3 tier architecture

in this architecture all the three services( 1. user services. 2. business services. 3. data services.) layers reside seperately, either on the same machine or on the different machines. the user interface interacts with the business logic. the business logic validates the data sent by the interfaces and forwards it to the database if it conforms to the requirements.
