    Web.Config versions for .NET framework 4.6.1

    I have migrated the Web application from .NET framework v3.5 to v4.6.1. Version number got changed to v4.6.1 in project properties and compiled successfully.

    But in the Web.Config file, all the references version number still points to v2.0 and v3.5, can you suggest me to find the appropriate version number for each references.

    <compilation debug="true" strict="false" explicit="true">

    Hi,

    The reason might the DLL which are referring right now is still point to the 3.5 Framework even after the up gradation.
    If you check the DLL in Reference folder you can able to see those frameworks are still pointing to 3.5 version so thats what reflecting in the web.config.

    Do the following steps and let us know if that fixes your prob,

    Go to Project --> Reference and delete a reference lets say System.Web.Extension.dll
    then browse the following path

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Reference Assemblies\Microsoft\Framework\.NETFramework\v4.0\System.Web.Extension.dll

    Refer that in the reference path and rebuild the application and check the web.config whether you got the change of the framework and then repeat the same process for all the DLL's.

    Thanks,
    Mani
