Upload real photo and earn bonus points |

Having real photos in the profile page adds a lot of respect for the member. And if most of our members use real photos in their profile, it adds some more reputation for DNS, since it will show that DNS is a site with people having an identity to deal with. After all, we want our members to use their DNS profile as their real online identity.
So, to encourage everyone to use real photos in the profile page, we are giving 50 points to all members who upload real photo in their profile.
We have started adding 50 points only now. So, if you already have a real photo in the profile, you must re upload profile photo after this announcement to get this 50 points.
When you upload a new profile photo, 50 points will be automatically added to your profile. Within few days, the photo will be reviewed by editor. If the photo is not your real photo, the 50 points will be cancelled.
This is applicable for all regional sites as well.
NOTE:
* It is against the law to use someone else's photo in your profile as profile photo. This include photos of film stars, sports people, political leaders etc. Never use such photos in your profile.
* It is against our policy to use any GOD/Holy pictures in your profile.
* We strongly suggest you use your real photo. If you do not want to use your real photo, then use 'Avatar' pictures. Avatars, scenery and object's are allowed, but you will not earn bonus points for such photos.

Hi,
Nice decision. After all using images other than yourself is not fair and even illegal. And if user use his images the other viewer can let to know about their members.
But I have noticed that we as members are not able to watch the photos of DNS Webmaster. I know that I do not have permission to ask so, but why there is no photo on even this article of ABitSmart?
And last how you would recognize that photo is real since user can place any other person to his profile; as I think so?

You are allowed to use Avatar photos, and that is what I am using. We are trying to cater to legal issues in using photo's of filmstar's, etc.
As DNS is getting more and more popular, we might face legal issues based on our popularity. So, we have laid down rules to help us, as well as members, to avoid any trouble.. If any one is found using the photo to camouflage then the onus of punishment will be on the member and not us. I hope members understand the seriousness of the issue and do not get involved in any such wrong doing.

Adding to this announcement i would like to give one idea, Its better to assign a default AVATAR to the members who do not have the profile photo, so that the members not uploading any photos can also have a default AVATAR. Later if any members want to change his/her photo, can do it..

A nice initiative, but I doubt that members who prefer anonimity would post their own picture for 50 points, If a member would have wanted to put up their picture they would have done it while registration.
Anil kumar pandey's suggestion is a good one, there are a lot of leading communities, that assign a default profile photo as and when a user completes registeration and logs-in.
I will soon upload my photo again :(

How the editors will know that the photo uploaded by a user is real or not. They might post others. how will u find it.

We cannot judge 100% if the photo is of the member or not, but we can do our best. As per my announcement, photos of filmstar's, celebrities, God or holy pictures are strictly not allowed.
The point of this announcement is to make members aware that using some one else's photo is illegal. You can face legal issues in doing such things, so beware.

Thats good!! But AAVTAR can also be from some predefined set of image rather than user choice as Anil said.

As everyone says...it's a good announcement and good suggestions to all members...I don't know why people are hesitant to upload small photos in their profile...

All friends who are on dns with their self interest are having their own photo, or picture as their profile photo, since long time i have my own photo, I use my own photo on all my profiles worldwide, The better part should be they should come to dns with self interest, either to learn all the knowledge availble on dns and should also contribute their knowledge will help dns grow even better and faster.
