BAML is the compiled/binary version of a XAML. XAML is converted to BAML so that the runtime can load faster by using the BAML directly instead of converting/parsing the XAML into code at runtime.

BAML means Binary Application Markup Language which is a compiled version of the XAML. When you compile your XAML it creates the BAML file. You can find the file in the obj folder of your WPF/Silverlight project. If BAML is used, your application rendering will be more faster than loading & parsing the XAML, as it directly renders from the compiled XAML.

BAML is XAML comiled to native format in order to be added later to the main assembly of your application as a ressource
