A sharepoint is simply an upgradation of dotnet. It has all the features that dotnet has but all are simplified. It has enhanced features what dotnet has. Sharepoint's main purpose is for creating Intranet sites or Portals. With sharepoint you can create a site with less code works. There are lots of libraries, templates, lists etc inbuilt in it. Sharepoint needs less code effort. It has webparts that can be included within our page. So designing effort also less. http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepointdesigner/HA101314471033.aspx http://wss.collutions.com/pages/VI%20-%20Tutorials.aspx Refer these sites.
