Implementing Functionality in Sharepoint Designer

Hi,

I am new to Sharepoint. I dont know how to use this...

Can anyone tell me that how to implement the functionality in page which i designed in sharepoint designer.

Should it be a aspx page or Html Page?.

can we do write in asp and integrate with sharepoint designer page?. if so how to do this?

For Example,
I can Design a login page by using controls which are available in sharepoint designer.

now i want to hit the DB, and check the login users and navigate to some other page.

I can do this in aspx.cs very easily. But i dont how to do it in sharepoint designer. Should i use script for all? If So, how to use that.?

Can anyone clear my doubts?.

Hi..

U can use in aspx file itself as

<script runat="server">
functionalities Here....
</script>
